Moisture from the South is entering the area.

While NOAA predicts thunderstorms today over the mountains and deserts, OWSweather.com will not. I believe that the mid level moisture is enough for afternoon clouds at higher levels, however no thunderstorms are expected.

A cap at 450mb is probably going to stop the cumulus clouds from further forming. The lack of moisture between 8k and 18k leads be to believe that deep layer moisture for thunderstorm action is not possible. We also have no lift source at 18,000 feet for the thunderstorms to develop.

So for today we are going against the NOAA forecast for thunderstorms...
