Reports from this reporter.

January 23, 2008

11:00pmPST - Approx 2" snow. 0.38" total precipitation. Temperature has dropped 3 degrees in the last 25 minutes(from 22:30 to 22:55).

February 2, 2007

11:30pmPST - Light Snow, sticking. 31.4 degrees. Started snowing as soon as the leading edge of the front moved in. Snowing now for about 25 minutes. Accumulation of 1/2 inch.
OWS Comment: I emailed the reporter back asking if he could tell me when it changes to rain because our forecast called for all rain in Tehachapi due to warm air advection during the frontal zone, changing to snow after the front.

February 3, 2007

1:00amPST - Light rain for about the last 45 minutes. Temp is rising, at 34.4 presently
OWS Comment: Snow changed to rain per this report. Good report confirmination in the mountain town.

11:30amPST - Moderate rain/sleet mix. Temperature starting to drop(38 degs). Strong winds for about the last hour gusting to 46mph. 2 inches of rain since midnight. Some street and property flooding.

8:30pmPST - Moderate snow. 3" on the ground at 3900 feet. Has been snowing all afternoon but not until 18:00 did it get cold enough at my elevation to really start sticking. I'm sure at 5000' there is probably a foot plus. 31 degrees and 2.76 inches of precipitation since midnight. Rain gauge heater having a tough time keeping up with the snow. Wind still gusting to around 30mph.
OWS Comment: That looks to rise with a heap of echoes coming in overnight. A lot more moisture than expected on the backside, but still ok. The snow advisory was not needed until 6" hits. Let's see what it does.

July 13, 2008

Has been cloudy all morning. Light rain for a few minutes and some distant thunder. Temp= 77, dew Pt 57. Nothing yesterday, everthing was to the East. Looks like it may get interesting later.
