Do you want to be a weather reporter?
OWS is the first and only private weather/forecast service to provide a network like this. Not talking about on television or radio, but I am talking about reporting bad weather to the OWS? Do you want to get credit for each valid report you give? Whether it be wind gusts, or torrential downpours, to even a possible funnel cloud, you will make it on OWS weather reporter's network for that day.

How does it work?
Well it's simple. You call or e-mail the OWS into what you are seeing. If it goes to the guidelines we give, it will go up on the network as a report, with your name.

How is this different than the NWS Spotter Network?
Well it is about the same, however the way your reports are treated will be much better. We will put all reports to us for that day on the section if it's valid to our guidelines. No matter what. Times I have given the NWS valid reports, and it didn't make it on the list, therefore no one knew the event that occurred. One of OWS's goals is to make sure the outside world knows what Southern California gets weather wise. It's not all sunny skies. When it storms, IT STORMS.

How much is it?
It's free. OWS will provide the following. Own ID number to the OWS. Your own spotter network page where we put your reports down as well. All of them go there. As a bonus, for storm chasers, and photographers, your site can be linked to your page from that. Your photos you give OWS can be put in the page as well. You will have your own section. Now that's something NWS network won't allow. We will do that because OWS is for the people, built by the people's requests.

What about NWS?
The Ontario Weather Service is considered to be the local National Weather Service's competition right now, however OWS said it would help out if needed. What will happen there is any report valid to their standards would be relayed to them for faster warning response and coverage time. This is how it would go. You give the report, and if it's on the NWS guidelines for spotter network, we will relay it to them. It's a win-win situation and public safety is OWS key.
